| Richard Larson 69 South Street Wells, Vermont 05774 Phone/fax 802-645-0865 December 4, 2007 Dear Friends, We are entering our fourth year of helping some of the neediest children in Uganda to stay in school. At our annual barbeque and barn dance, $840 was raised. I am writing today to thank you for your past support and to ask for your further assistance. When this crazy commercial world is bombarding us with messages to buy gifts for others, what if we change the message to do something for others? As a substitute for Christmas gifts, our family often supports Heifer International, purchasing a small flock of chicks or ducks to be sent in the name of our loved one. There is no stuff to clutter our lives. We have the pleasure of knowing that someone’s life is changed. Can you think of a better gift? I hope that you might take this idea to heart, and consider enabling a Ugandan child to stay in school. I can’t think of a better way to manifest the Christmas theme of “Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Men”. I would like to report some very exciting news. As you know, this program was inspired by our dear friend Tibursious Ssenduala (Teep), who lived with us for two years and in now at Green Mountain College. Each summer, when he is home in Uganda, Teep checks the various school records to verify that the funds are properly utilized. By the way, 100% of the money is applied toward tuition! This past summer, Teep added a new dimension to the Nkuke Children’s Education Project. He asked the students that we have assisted and their families to “pass on the good deeds”. While home in Uganda, he mobilized the young people that you have helped. They provided the labor to build new brick homes for two destitute widows in their village who are supporting their orphaned grandchildren. What a wonderful extension of your investment. Thank you again for your financial help. For your interest, you might check out the web site that has been developed for our program. It can be found at http://www.uganda-nkukechildrenseducationproject.org. Please tell others about what you are doing. Maybe they will want to help, too. Respectfully, Rich |
